This beautiful Maltese Cross pendant has some uniqueness owing to the beautiful light red rhodium plating on the textured parts of the eight points in the design. Made from Sterling Silver, the texturing and addition of colour help bring some depth to the cross.

The Maltese cross is most famously associated with the Knights of Malta (the Knights Hospitallers of St. John). Over the years the cross has now become more widely used as a symbol of Malta as a country however it still remains the symbol of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.

The pendant comes with a nice 45cm Sterling Silver belcher chain necklace which matches well to the pendant.

ERA: Vintage (Pre 2000)

MEASUREMENTS: Pendant measures 18.0mm high (not including the bail), 18.0mm wide and 4mm in depth. The bail at its widest point is 2.7mm wide and 8.3mm high.
The belcher chain is a 45cm in length and each link is 1.6mm in width.

WEIGHT: Total weight of 3.35g consisting of pendant weighing 1.00 and chain weighing 2.35g

HALLMARKS: Hallmarks on the bail are '925' for Sterling Silver and 'DAJ' as a makers mark. The hallmarks on the chain tag are '925' for Sterling Silver and 'Italy' for country of origin.

CONDITION

Very good to Excellent - The pendant itself is in very good condition with no visible scratches or marks. The plating on the textured points in the cross is in very good condition with minimal wear. The jump ring on the top of the pendant may have been replaced at some point with evidence of soldering. The bail is in very good condition and is soldered shut. The necklace shows little to no signs of wear, the clasp spring is still excellent and shows no signs of repair.
